Prescription Compounding

What is prescription compounding?

Bethelview Pharmacy provides custom prescription compounding for patients and providers throughout Cumming, Forsyth County, and surrounding communities including Suwanee, Johns Creek, and Alpharetta. As a locally owned compounding pharmacy, we work directly with prescribers to prepare medications suited to each patient’s specific needs.

Compounding is the process of preparing a customized medication based on a licensed prescriber’s instructions. It may be considered when a commercially available medication does not match a patient’s dosage, form, flavor, ingredient or tolerance needs. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, compounding allows the pharmacist and provider to prepare medication around a specific patient or pet.

Compounded medications require a valid prescription. They are not FDA-approved in the same way commercially manufactured medications are, so they should be used only when a prescriber determines that a customized preparation is appropriate.

Dosage Forms

Common dosage forms available

Capsules & SR
Capsules

Useful when a provider needs a specific strength, smaller dose or sustained-release preparation for a patient-specific care plan.

Creams, Gels & Ointments

Common for dermatology, pain, hormone, GI, rectal and localized prescriptions that need targeted topical application.

Solutions & Scalp
Oils

Helpful for selected hair loss, dermatology or skin-related prescriptions where topical spread and adherence matter.

Troches & Sublingual Forms

May be considered when a prescriber wants an alternate route that dissolves in the mouth as directed.

Suppositories & Rectal Preparations

Often used when localized support, alternate absorption or difficult oral administration is part of the care plan.

Vaginal Creams &
Bases

May be prepared for provider-directed hormone or women's health prescriptions requiring specific strength or base selection.

Sterile Injections When Appropriate

Selected injectable preparations may be available when prescribed and prepared under applicable sterile compounding requirements.

Pet-Friendly Forms & Flavors

Veterinary prescriptions may be customized into easier dosage forms or flavors based on the pet's needs.

We do not accept GoodRx, and here is why: we do not need to. As an independently owned pharmacy, we have the ability to source medications from multiple wholesalers, which means we can secure better pricing than the large chains and pass those savings directly to our patients. In most cases, our pricing beats GoodRx outright. If cost is a concern, call us before you fill anywhere else. We will give you a straight answer on price before you make the trip.
